Galactica Gameplay :: Back
Game play in Galactica is a matter of building starships, and using those ships to colonize the galaxy, protect your territory, and defeat the other players in combat. Sounds pretty straight forward, however it's a little more involved. There are three main characteristics of each system that will determine how successful you are. Technology, Growth, and Ship Building.
Technology - Higher levels of technology allow your ships to move faster, and give them an advantage in combat over ships with lower tech levels. Your star systems also defend themselves from attacking ships based on their level of technology.
Growth - Without people, you can't do anything. As your population grows, there are more scientists researching new warp drives and more factories to build and repair starships.
Ship Building - There are four ships available. Each has it's primary function and some have a secondary function. Deciding which ship is best suited for a particular job is key for maximizing resources and increased productivity. Of course ships are the only way to colonize and defend.
But each characteristic is not cut and dry. You only have so many resources to devote to each area, and at the cost of other areas. You can't devote 100% into each area, you have to divide it up. It is this simple rule that will decide if you are a master or slave of Galactica.
