A fun and challenging game of galactic colonization and warfare!
Use your superior technology and great fleets of starships to re-unite the surviving factions of the once great human empire!
Game play in Galactica is a matter of building starships, and using those ships to colonize the galaxy, protect your territory, and defeat the other players in combat. Your level of technology is crucial. Higher levels of technology allow your ships to move faster, and give them an advantage in combat over ships with lower tech levels.
Your star systems also defend themselves from attacking ships based on their level of technology.
What is new in GAD3?
- Fog Of War : All new
Opponent's ships, systems, and all information associated with those are now hidden from view. Each system and scout has a detection circumference. Ships are only detected when inside this area. As tech increases so does this area of detection. Three levels of detection aid in uncovering enemy strengths and weaknesses. Movement is never revealed.
- Matchmaker : New and improved
Hosts are now listed with our matchmaking server which allows your friends to easily find you on the net.
- UI enhancements
Support right click, make ships and systems lists sortable, better window resizing and positioning. Preference window allows for customization of your game window and set default features for system colonization.
- New Scout AI
Scouts/Couriers have more of a reconnaissance role than in previous versions. While they remain virtually undetectable their speed and ability to scan enemy fleets and systems provide you with a network of eyes away from your home system
- Built-in mechanism to find multiplayer games on the internet.
- Autosave for multiplayer games
- Improved web integration
- A whole set of preferences for map display
- Default colony settings so you don't have to setup every new colony by hand
- Support for 2 button mice and scroll wheels
- Visual display of the damage level of the selected ship in the starmap
- Lists of systems and fleets are now sortable
- Direct access to the community web site from the game menus
- A way in the game to quickly check to see if there are new versions of the game available
- More readable documentation
- Better integration with OS X (e.g.: doesn't overlap the dock and uses OS X style preferences)
